We started working with the Apigee API Gateway around 2017. In the following years, customers asked us to do some work on other gateways (Kong, Amazon and Salesforce) because they had problems finding staff with the right expertise.

In 2020, we were contacted by Volkswagen who were looking for an API management system for their Open Car Configurator project. Because of the expect traffic volumes, the pricing of Kong Enterprise Edition would be way out over budget but the Community Edition did not included all the required functionalities. This resulted in the development of Dynalight (then called Doppio) where we used Kong Community as the engine and build our own wrapper around it using plugins and our own code to tie it all together.

In 2021, the first version went live and since then the usage of Dynalight has increased tremendously as other brands of the Volkswagen Group were also connecting to it. In 2023 the product had matured so much that we decided to turn it into a separate commercial product and decided to use the name Dynalight.
